Lights.. Camera... youth in Action!!

As I have said.. the youth wants to get the activities on its way.
One of the things the youth has planned, and has never done, is that we wanted to do a youth music video and movie (Christian theme of course) !! I think this is a great idea since we have only a small youth group.
We plan to finish and view it before summer starts.
I think this is a great idea from the youth because of a number of reasons:

1- Many of the youth kids are musically talented. Some can play the guitar and drums  
    and DJ. Some can sing and rap.
2- We have good recording equipment for the music and video.
3- Helps bring out the creativity of the youth
4- We can put it on our YouTube channel and website and hopefully inspire other youths
5- It creates an opportunity to invite more youth to get involved
6- We have time to make other activities during the process
Also, since we can spread scheduling broadly, it creates a lot of opportunity for us(youth leaders) to interact and get to build relationships with the youth. I wont write about what our videos will be about (because it a surprise;).  Our shooting starts tomorrow Sunday after church. We will start working on the music video by creating the beat music.

Delay of game on account of.... snow!

This week was not a good week for the youth group.

God decided to make this week all about SNOW in Seattle!.. schools were closed, people had no work, many stuck in their houses and some lost their electricity. Also, the youth group could not get together on Thursday(our usual youth night).
We will just have a meeting this Sunday instead.  A meeting to plan out and how to accomplish our goals.

I talked to some of the youth over the phone and over the internet. I called them to encourage them and to keep them excited for the plans we have going for the youth. But after I called them, I realized they were still motivated and very optimistic. It's good to know that this snow storm didn't affect them much.

At least, the snow storm has ended this week and all the people I know are safe.
I thank God for safety!

I will probably post again tomorrow after our meeting for a more better content ;)

New year.. new blog topic...

I have not blogged for a long time. But now it seems that I will again.
I also chose to do another topic. A topic blog in which I can tell many of my family and friends about and others interested.

My topic is on the youth group of my church- ThruFaith youth and our activities this year. Since our base church is located in the Philippines, they always ask me all kinds of questions concerning our youth group here in Seattle.

Our youth group, which consist of roughly less than 20 people, are fired up and passionate about doing creative new things in the youth ministry. Our youth leaders (including me) have some interesting plans and goals for this whole year. I will share our experiences as we go through this year.

I can use this blog as a report and a group diary for our church and base Philippine churches(which are 12 churches all around the northern Philippines) to read about, learn from, discuss about, and to inform.

This blog can also help, inform, and/or give ideas to anyone interested in planning activities for a small youth group.

I am excited for this new year and for my youth group and excited to see what the Lord will do in this year 2012!
